10:00. Higher Education’s Role in Lifelong Learning
Higher education institutions are in a strong position to contribute to lifelong learning, which is critical for addressing future challenges. However, transforming institutions to cater for a broader mix of learners, new modes of delivery and different curriculums is not straightforward. This presentation from UNESCO’s Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) outlines concrete policy recommendations for university and policy leaders to support HEI’s to deliver on their broader mission for equity and access through lifelong learning.

Most higher education leaders agree that micro-credentials are an important part of their future strategy, however implementation of micro-credentials can be complex. Through the case study of Tecnológico de Monterrey, this workshop provides a set of practical steps for micro-credential implementation, including consideration of barriers and opportunities, a framework for preparation, along with recommendations and practical strategies for effective implementation.
